Besides, China's electrical and electronic product manufacturer Haier was also reported to commence the sale of  china cell  phones in France this year.
Smartphones will certainly replace common mobile phones in future, believed industry watchers. Depending on its strong research and development ability, Huawei will snatch opportunities arising from the popularity of smartphones.
The terminal business unit of the company will continue focusing on telecom operators. Making use of its advantages in 3G, tailored products, and costs, it will accumulate experience to launch more customized watch cell phones for telecom operators.

Chinese search engine

One of the most popular frauds was called "one beeper". A stranger china cell phone and hangs up before it is answered. If the call is returned, it is forwarded to expensive lines  that sometimes charge more than 50 yuan ($57HK) per minute.
While many  believe an identity verification check could prevent fraud, some  argue  that the cost would be greater than the benefit.
The biggest opponents are operators. China Mobile, the world's biggest mobile  service provider, earned more than 70 per cent of its income from Easy Own, a prepaid card that consumers can buy at  stores and newspaper stands in most  cities.
Those users, accounting for more than 75 per cent of  TV cell phones total consumer base, were anonymous. "The Easy Own brand will be ruined if identity verification is required. It will be a marketing catastrophe," a China Mobile employee said.
"It would also be an operational nightmare to collect the personal information of so many existing users, and the cost would be huge. The regulation would provoke a social upheaval far more serious than phone crimes do."Last month, Chinese search engine Baidu announced that it clinched a partnership with China Unicom to provide wireless search for the carrier's 3G mobile subscribers. China Unicom on Friday launched the popular iPhone in China.
Experts said ever since China launched 3G services, which enable cell phone users to surf the Internet via mobile phones, mobile search has become one of the most promising markets for search engines to expand their service beyond personal computers.
According to the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), China's Internet users totaled 338 million by the end of June, of which iphone clone mobile Internet users increased 32.1 percent to 155 million

The cooperation signals the Chinese-language online search bellwether's attempt to make a significant inroad in the domestic wireless search market, pointed
out market observers. S8300 and S5230, the first two Samsung models bundled with Baidu search engine, are scheduled to come into the market this month, disclosed people familiar with the matter. In terms of the strategic cooperation agreement inked with MediaTek, Baidu will work together with the Taiwan-based mobile phone chip giant to develop wireless search applications based on MediaTek operating system. Presently, the Taiwanese mobile phone chip developer's operating system is adopted in more than 90% of the mobile phones made in China.
The alliance with Lenovo, and Beijing Tianyu will enable Baidu to consolidate its dominance in the Chinese wireless search market. As a top-ranking personal
computer (PC) maker in the world, Lenovo also enjoys high reputation in the domestic mobile phone market. Beijing Tianyu has been taking the lead among all the domestic mini cell phones makers by sales volume.

Time up for alarm clock as mobile phones ring the changes

Time is up for the traditional alarm clock as people now prefer to use their china cell phones to wake up in the mornings, according to a poll.
It could signal the end of a device that has helped people get to work on time for more than a hundred years.
A poll of nearly 1,500 people found that 82 per cent owned a mobile phone, with more than half using it as an alarm clock.
Robert Egan, a fellow of the British Horological Institute, said: "People are even using mobile phones instead of wristwatches now. It's another sign of modern technology taking over from mechanical things.''The move also shows the growing importance of the Chinese market in the mobile industry, and the sheer number of potential subscribers means it will continue to be a target for handset makers. China Mobile's subscriber base far surpasses the combined users of Verizon Wireless and AT&T, and there's still plenty of room for growth. Companies such as Dell, HTC, Lenovo, Samsung, and LG Electronics have also committed to bringing out OPhones over the next few years, and Apple also recently inked a deal to bring the watch cell phones to China.
InformationWeek Analytics has published a report on the 10 steps to effective data classification. Download the report here (registration required).
The poll, carried out by Rightmobilephone.co.uk, found that one in five British people used their phones to surf the internet, organise their week, take photos and wake up in the morning.Neil McHugh, the co-managing director, said: "Phones have evolved from simple communication handsets to now provide us with a wealth of information on the go.''One precursor to the alarm clock was the water clock, developed by the ancient Greeks, where rising waters would hit a mechanical bird that triggered a whistle.Another clock believed to date back to China's Tang Dynasty made a sound at regular intervals.
The first mechanical alarm clock capable of striking at a time specified by the user was invented by Taqi al-Din, from the Ottoman Empire, in 1559. Then, in 1876, the Seth Thomas Clock Company was granted a patent for a small bedside alarm clock, believed to be the first of mini cell phones.

Firms can save up to 80% of mobile-phone bills

The move to serve the enterprise segment has been driven by the company's wish to expand beyond Singapore.
Mr Ong points out that china mobile phones services in many jurisdictions are regulated, so new entrants must obtain licences. And this would limit the pace at which Teliwave can grow if it continues to focus on the consumer segment alone.
'We've already deployed the Hoiio solution for MNCs in Singapore, Indonesia and Australia,' he says. 'And we have another buyer for 800 people in the UK.'
Mr Ong says SMEs can benefit from Teliwave because call savings cut across enterprises of all sizes - as long as the company pays a portion of its workers' mobile-phone bills. He estimates that businesses can save up to 80 per cent of their mobile-phone bills by using Hoiio Business Mobility Solutions.
'An interesting social phenomenon we see is that while people may be in the office most of the time, they still talk on their mobile phones than on their fixed lines,' he said. 'Like our first customer on board, its mobile-phone bill is actually five times higher than its land-line bills.'
Hoiio's proposition is to convert outgoing TV cell phones calls into incoming calls. It works like a call-back service, only that instead of punching special dialling codes and remembering PIN numbers, users dial as they would normally, or select the number from their contact list.
'Most businesses understand the savings they can get from using a call-back system,' said Mr Ong.
'The obstacle has always been to get the mobile employee to use the service. Many employees baulk at having to enter PIN numbers or edit their contact list to add special dialling codes and prefixes. Hoiio Business Mobility makes the experience hassle-free. There is no need to change the way the call is made,' he adds.
For example, a call to China using Hoiio solution will cost about 4.9 cents a minute versus the $1-plus per minute charged by most telcos, says Mr Ong. And to make the service even more attractive for SMEs, Teliwave has a pay-per-use model - a company is billed only for the calls made on iphone clone, without any capital expense.

Bringing Android Phone To China

China cell phones  Android-based handsets will be dubbed "OPhones" and will directly compete with Apple's iPhone.HTC Magic (click for larger image) HTC will sell a smartphone with the Google-backed Android operating system in China next month.
The smartphone company, which made its name designing Windows Mobile devices like the HTC Touch, has the only commercially available Android handset on the
market with the T-Mobile G1 . It won't hold that distinction much longer, though, as companies like Samsung , Sony Ericsson, and Motorola are expected to have smartphones available this year using the Linux-based operating system.
HTC will bring its Magic smartphone to China Mobile with some modifications to its user interface, HTC CEO Peter Chou told The Wall Street Journal . China
Mobile's Android-based handsets will be dubbed "OPhones" and will directly compete with watch cell phones, which is expected to be offered by China Unicom by the end of the year.
The Magic shares many of the characteristics of the G1, but it ditches the full QWERTY keyboard for a stronger emphasis on touch. The handset will likely run
Android 1.5 with some modifications that are unique to China Mobile. The handset also has the specifications one expects from a high-end smartphone, including Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, and multimedia functionality.
The move is another sign of the increasing importance of China in the mobile industry because of its number of potential customers. For example, China Mobile
is already the world's largest mobile operator with more than 500 million subscribers, and there's still plenty of room for growth in the country. The majority of Chinese customers use entry-level devices that are only capable of making calls and sending texts, but these subscribers are quickly upgrading to sophisticated handsets that can access the mobile Web, send e-mail on the go, and play multimedia files.
Mini cell phones devices can give businesses powerful and productive services, but IT departments need to be able to lock down the data on the move.
InformationWeek examined mobile security in an independent report, and it can be downloaded here (registration required).

Face it, the world is watching you

The  future just isn't what it used to be. In George Orwell's novel 1984, we thought we saw an accurate depiction: china mobile phones dictator whose eyes were on everyone. At a time of Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and Franco, it resonated. But now, instead of 'Big Brother', we have lots of little brothers and sisters, mums and dads - in fact, everyone - looking at all of us all the time.
Take Jade Goody. The British TV star of reality show Big Brother died of cervical cancer earlier this year. She broadcast her dying days for everyone to see,
making that most private and tragic of acts a public spectacle. 'I've lived my whole life in front of the cameras,' she said. 'And maybe I'll die in front of them.' The golden Buddha Heart and Karma model, which resembles a temple ornament, even comes with a certificate to prove it has been blessed by monks.
"You can call shanzhai convenient creativity," says shanzhai expert Scully Meng, editorial assistant of the London-based NGO China Dialogue.
"They create it but do so based on something that's already been created by someone else. I think people are getting tired of big brands and a certain way of
life, and this is a way to express themselves." She also points out that shanzhai innovation isn't only about developing new technology, but also fulfilling people's needs TV cell phones
But this new transparent world isn't just for prurient types. China, for example, realises you can no longer control information by just controlling the
press. The press, nowadays, is the people. Anyone with a camera phone is a journalist.
Protesters at riots in Shishou city in Hubei province took videos on their camera phones and put them online. Dr Yu Jianrong from the Chinese Academy of
Social Science said of the June event that 'it was like a live telecast'. This fact is not lost on media outlets like CNN, which often solicit images from people on the spot.
The case of Neda Agha Soltan, the Iranian student whose death was captured on camera phone, gave the Iranian election protesters a martyr to rally around.
The Chinese government's response to all this has been multifaceted : a failed attempt to put web-filtering 'Green Dam' software on all PCs, jamming iphone clone
signals during moments of unrest and, on occasion, even disrupting the Internet.

Witness tells Indian court phones used by Mumbai gunmen made in China

Mumbai, 14 August: In yet another evidence of Pakistan link to the 26/11 terror attacks, a witness Friday [14 August] told the special court here that five china mobile phones used by terrorists in the dastardly act were manufactured by Nokia Inc in China and shipped to Pakistan in June 2008.
The witness, Enforcement Manager of Nokia in the US, whose name has been withheld, deposed through video conference from the FBI office in USA.
Five Nokia mobile phones were recovered by the Mumbai police from the nine slain terrorists and FBI's help was sought to determine from where they have procured.
She is the third witness to talk about Pakistan link in the case. Earlier, a forensic expert of FBI had told the court the terrorist had used GPS to arrive from Karachi to Mumbai by sea route.
Another witness belonging to Yamaha company had said the terrorists had used his company's outboard engine in their dingy to arrive from Pakistan at Mumbai port.
"I believe these phones were shipped from China to Pakistan," the witness today told special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.
On asked as to how she was able to identify the watch cell phones, the witness said it was through Internation Mobile Equipment Identification (IMEI) number.
"It is a unique identification number alloted to each mobile phone manufactured by Nokia," the witness said.
When the witness was shown a letter written by her to FBI in this regard on February 12 this year, she identified saying it was issued under her signature.
Asked where she got information about these phones, the witness said she got it from her company's database, which is being maintained in regular course of business.
To a query of Judge M. L. Tahilyani, the witness said the database can be accessed by any Nokia office in the world if they have the password given by the company.
Prime accused Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab was listening to the deposition attentively and smiled at the mention of the name Pakistan by the witness.
The witness told defence lawyer Abbas Kazmi that she was authorised to depose on behalf of Nokia but she was not carrying any authorisation letter.
Asked to identify herself she flashed her identity card of Nokia company. "Except for this I-card I have no other documentary proof to show that I am an authorised representative of Nokia."
The witness denied Abbas's suggestion that she was not an authorised representative of Nokia and was deposing falsely at the instance of FBI.
The FBI had earlier informed Mumbai police that the mini cell phones were shipped to Nokia dealers "United Mobile" and "Twelve Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd" in Pakistan.
